Megan Wettach: Winning Entrepreneur
Competitors in the Northern Plains Student Entrepreneur Award competition are not typical college students. In addition to worrying about papers, tests, and weekend plans, each competitor also juggles the responsibilities of owning a business. This spring, they were rewarded for their dedication to being both full-time undergraduate students and small business owners.
On May 5, the winners of the 2004 Northern Plains regional competition were announced. Dustin Lindahl took first place, winning $2,000 and a chance to compete for $10,000 in the 2004 Global Student Entrepreneur™ Awards held at the Collegiate Entrepreneur Organization (CEO) Conference in Chicago. The conference will be held in November. Megan Wettach was named second place and took home $1,500.
Megan is a Communications major at the University of Iowa. She owns Premier Prom & Pageantry, a formal wear boutique. Megan started Premier Prom & Pageantry as a high school senior. Her business has been featured in Seventeen Prom, Supermodels Unlimited, Prom Time, and Pageantry magazines.
