The Write Start for the Christmas Season: Matthew Wettach's Coat and Teddy Bear Drive

MOUNT PLEASANT — Matthew Wettach and Jeralyn Westercamp will be collecting new and slightly used winter coats, hats, mittens and Teddy bears for more than 200 low–income children in Henry, Des Moines and Louisa counties during the "Holiday on Main" open house from 6 to 8 p.m. today in downtown Mount Pleasant.

Donations will be accepted at Premier Prom & Bridal store, with everyone donating a coat receiving a $10 gift certificate and those donating a Teddy bear receiving a $5 gift card to Premier Prom.

Called the "Write Start" by founders Wettach and Westercamp, the initiative has earned a state award in partnership with Regency Homes, McAninch and the Hawkeye Sports Network.
